My Vote Stands Alone. And for the record, I am a Hillary Rodham Clinton supporter. But why I support Hillary does not matter here.

Have you ever had someone ask you who you are voting for, and in turn they reply, “Well, my vote washes yours out.”, or “My vote erases yours.” etc. I’ve always been baffled by these statements, which tend to end in awkward silence or clumsy chortle. As if the comment may be strong enough to stop me from casting my vote. As if the comment holds power over me. And might I add that the statement seems very egotistical & not very funny at all, especially if my opinion is being squashed or diminished.

Every vote matters. And every vote holds Power. Maybe they view it as an opportunity to shift your mind. But perhaps the statement reflects the uncertainty of their candidate of choice. So they offer this pretense of smoke & mirrors, fishing for some small glimmer of hope or insight, to help them shift their decision, and get out of their several month long verbal commitments or opposing character bashing.

I have always considered myself to be not very political, because there is more to politics than I can personally comprehend. So I stay focused on the simplicity of my morals & values and stand strong with my opinion & foresight. What matters to me is that we do vote and we respect each others’ right to vote. And what matters to me, is that we respect each others’ opinions, regardless of whether or not we choose to open their Pandora box.

I don’t believe we can ever know everything about each candidate. Nor do I want to. And I certainly would rather focus on the positive in either candidate. Since when did politics dehumanize candidates and voters? What matters to me is that we listen & hear what the intentions are for each candidate. What matters to me, is that we believe in the person. What matters to me, is we believe that our candidate of choice will have our best interest at heart, collectively in every decision making process. What matters to me is we believe that this candidate, can & will keep our country safe. What matters to me is that I can sleep at night, knowing that this candidate is working selflessly hard for all of the American people.

The power is within each of us, individually, to make a difference. Yes, cumulatively our votes together can make a shift. But it is the individual vote that matters. Just like the saying goes, you can only eat an elephant one bite at a time, or in my case, a donkey.

I am proud to stand in my vote. I am proud that I have the right to vote. And I am proud that in my lifetime, there is a candidate running for The President of the United States that is more than a woman to me. So to all of my fellow Hillary supporters, I’m with you. And to all of my fellow Americans, please join me and exercise your right to vote. America we stand.
