Networking can be subjective right, subject to the individual’s perspective. Like the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But furthermore, perspective can also be subjective. Some say perception may as well be the reality. Other’s believe one’s perception, blankets all. But in truth, no two people will see exactly the same vision in a painting, or in a thought provoking book.
Perception is in the eye of the beholder. And the holder of perception has a powerful view. So what do we do with such power? Does it become the power of influence or perhaps the power of suggestion? Is my suggestion strong enough to sway you from your potential perspective before you even see the painting or read the book, and should they? Are we subject to another’s intuition or is ignorance bliss?
If one person sees chance or opportunity, but another person doesn’t, who has the best perspective? How chummy do we want to get and do objects appear closer in the mirror? Are we in a fun house and is this fun house really fun? Is our work fun when we are in the house? And if it’s fun, is it really work? Do we have to love it or hate it?
Sometimes we meet great potential clients when networking. Hopefully we have enough perspective & insight to be sure, that the fun house doesn’t turn into a nightmare on Elm Street. We should be good, as long as we pay attention to those red flags in the yard, and even the pink ones right? Ideally I want to see the American flag standing high and strong, and I want those stars & stripes aligned with my own. Knowing when to waive the white flag is in our best interest.
With work comes networking. With networking brings vulnerability. Such vulnerability can introduce risk. Said risk can cause swift action. That action can in turn, invite judgment. With lovely judgment we turn to perception. And finally arrive at being perceptive can be subjective.
